Frequently Asked Questions

What is Night to Shine?
Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom-like event, centered around God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older.

How long has Night to Shine been around, and how many churches participate?
Night to Shine began in 2014. There are now more than 720 churches world wide that host Night to Shine with over 150,000 volunteers.

Should I get dressed up for Night to Shine?

Yes! Night to Shine is a prom experience - ladies usually wear prom dresses, and gentlemen often choose to wear suits or suit jackets. But don’t forget comfortable shoes - we’ll be dancing the night away!!!

Will I be by myself all night?
Every one of our honored guests will have their own Buddy for the entire evening. Buddies will be there to assist our guests, accompanying them as they enjoy all of the activities, and to make sure they have the most memorable night of their lives!

Will we have dinner at the event?
Yes, we will have an amazing event that will offer dinner, as well as many other fun activities. You will have the opportunity for limo rides, hair & makeup assistance, shoeshines, karaoke, and of course - dancing!

What if I get too tired or if the music is too loud?
Our goal is for this to be a great experience for each of our guests. Sometimes we just need a break from the music and dancing. If that’s the case, your buddy will join you in our sensory room - a place where you can take a break and participate in something quieter for a while. Whenever you feel rested and ready, you and your buddy will head back to the party!

Where will my parents/caregivers be?
When you arrive, one parent or caregiver will come with you to check-in. At that point, we will connect you with your buddy for the evening. Then your parents can join us in the respite room if they have decided to stay. If they have elected to skip the respite room, they will return at 9:00 pm to pick you up.

What is a Respite Room?
We realize that this event may be one of the few times that parents can take a break from caregiving. We will have a room set up for parents that would like to join us and relax. We will provide dinner for the parents, and spend a little time just spoiling them. We want parents to know that you are loved and appreciated for all that you do caring for our Honored Guests.

Is there a medical team on site?
Yes, we will have EMT’s on site during the event in case of a medical emergency. Please note that the medical team (nor any other Night to Shine volunteers) can administer medications. If you need medicine administered during the event, please have a parent or caregiver stay on site.

Will there be security?
Yes, we will have security on site. None of our Honored Guests will be allowed outside the event unless accompanied by their parents/caregivers if they need to leave early. All of our guests and buddies will wear name tags identifying them all evening.

How much will it cost to attend Night to Shine?
Nothing! Night to Shine is free for all of our guests. We are honored to serve our Special Needs Community in the Texoma area. This event is made possible through funds raised and donations that our generous local supporters provide. If you are interested in supporting this amazing event, please see our donation page.
